Taste opened for business on 28th November 2008. It’s the inspiration & vision of proprietors Andy Cairns & his wife, popular local Chef & manager of the Belle Isle School of Cookery, Liz Moore. Taste would not be out of place in a densely populated, cosmopolitan city centre & is breaking new ground in rural Fermanagh.

Nobody seems to know or agree on the origin of the word "Bistro". The most often quoted explanation is that it is part of the Russian language, and during the fall of Napoleon in 1815, Russian soldiers stormed the cafes and small restaurants shouting “bistro, bistro” (hurry, hurry). Whatever its origin, everyone agrees that it is a small unpretentious restaurant; simply a place to enjoy a glass of quality wine, a fine lunch or dinner, or just a great cup of coffee and a pastry. A"Bistro" is a place for good times with friends.

At Taste, we want to be true to the word "Bistro". We serve unpretentious, uncomplicated, familiar food, in an atmosphere that’s conducive to eating, drinking, chatting and socialising. We have an uncomplicated wine list made up of high quality, value for money wines, and representative of most of the key wine regions in the world. We are not, and do not, profess to be wine experts. We simply love wine and go out of our way to provide a high quality list which suits most people’s pockets. We searched the entire country for a house coffee which delivers on quality every time it’s drunk. We eventually found what we were looking for in the Mr Exclusive brand from Lucaffe in Italy. A superlative blend of the finest 100% Arabica beans from South America, Asia and Central Africa.
